Monday September 15

Back and recovering from the wedding weekend trip to Whistler.

Car: still Radiohead regular rotation. Occasionally mixing it up with Jonatha Brooke, esp.  "Is this all?" (live.)

All things being equal, her beauty was not her fault,
And it was not her only advantage
Midst the feast and the novelty  -  the manliness of his charms
So was it really such a shock, so much history in a kiss,
Besides they both knew it was over.

And what do they have to worry about, just privacy and pain
And the damage they've done
Is this all, can I go now, is this all
Is this all, can I go now, is this all?

So when you sleep do not dream, the dreams they weigh you down
When you carry them along with you
They will wrack your lovely body, report back to your soul
With all the sickening sweets of the afternoon
As we lose the last of innocence--like some romantic notion
Buried in the fashion of disdain.
You can make the world your apple - but take a bite before it sours
Or you can make the world your charm or your chain
Is this all, can I go now, is this all
Is this all, can I go now, is this all?

Tuesday September 16

A phone call this evening upstaged everything else in my otherwise rather mundane day.

Box set impatience setting in... after a year of work, ready to have this part of the process behind us.  A waiting game.

Wednesday September 17

Dropped in on SGC rehearsal at Phinney this evening and listened outside the room to Eye of the Needle rehearsals.   Either something I ate (or something I heard?  K I D D I N G! ) gave me an unbearable stomachache, so I reluctantly bailed on going out with Joel post-rehearsal and went home to early bed.

Eyes were wide open while driving around Greenwood area this evening, but no synergistic sightings to be had.

Also, of note, mail today from Greenthumb/Bigtime friend Horacio Pozzo in Spain, working on designing a new release of the GC monographs, and looking for a high-res copy of GC knotwork to use.

Thursday September 18

A late night a work - fighting fires around end-of-milestone completion. But buzzing from new alignment of planets, energies flowing freely, and general dumb ol' feeling good for no apparent reason except that honorable work is being done.

Haiku falling like Seattle rain.

Friday September 19

Out with pals from work - great company, fun conversation and a tour of Belltown hotspots: Virginia Inn, Frontier Room, Cyclops.  Reminds me that I've lived a great life in Seattle over the past ten years.

Remembering the old Cyclops, sharing a Western Avenue rehearsal space with BillR and KristN and hanging, living, working, playing in the old, pre-yuppified Belltown.

Saturday September 20

Up early for calisthenics at Joel's.  Some diatonic finger and brain twisters on the 1st and 2nd string followed by a right hand work out disguising division of attention and rhythmic breathing primaries.   There are so many ways to simultaneously engage multiple centers.

Pre-breakfast discussion regarding the nature of 'sacred' music in light of the present trendy movement to 'capture' and represent Guitar Craft repertoire.

* * *

Later, outside Starbucks, lower QA, an exchange and semi-completion.

* * *

Even later, a call from Travis in Atlanta - great to hear his voice and reconnect.  Afternoon: design work on a new knot for the new DGM 'Inner Knot" spin-off label.

Dinner with Bob, Jax, Isabel, Eve, Trey, and Ezra at I Heart Sushi.

Sunday September 21

Afternoon, catching up on literally 3000 emails clogging my MS inbox.  Six hours later, down to 1900.  Geeze.  "Emailination."

My old car, now on it's last leg.  Brief car shopping, mostly online. After some research, I now know the make and model that I am after.

Evening, six more hours delivers three new draft knotwork designs for DGM spin-off, Inner Knot.

Day off, day schmoff.

Monday September 22

Mail from old Gauchos and EGauchos bandmate, Fernando Kabusacki, heading to Japan, and perhaps stopping into Seattle for a few days on his way or way back.

Tuesday September 23

Met a Blue Star this evening.  Chills and thrills and a few faux pax -- what is up with the back of my neck?  Why is the hair standing on end back there?

Wednesday September 24

Five hour Windows Division meeting downtown today - simultaneously inspiring and intimidating. So much work to do, so many incredible opportunities.

* * *

Evening: uni-tasking while talking to my sister on the phone.

Then one more phun phone call and Inner Knot design iterations.  Also, catch-up mail from Herni (about to head to Mendoza!) and Bill Forth (inviting me to play a live improv show in LA with him in mid-October!)  Oh to be global mobile again.

Tempting, sooooo tempting.  But, not right now.

Thursday September 25

Mail and submissions continue to flow in for the Crafty CD compilation project.  Bill and Amy are doing the song submission sorting and selection.

Friday September 26

More Jonatha in the car today.  Geeze.  Does not get better than this.  There are times that I wish I were extremely wealthy so I could simply finance projects by artists who deserve to spend their prime time making music.

Because I Told You So

If I gave you the sky
if I laid down my life
would you believe me then?

If I promised to change
if I carried the blame
would you believe me then?

could you see it like me
and believe what I see
could you listen, and remember that I love you
Only, because I told you, because I told you so.

If you told me you lied
but I stayed true and tried
would you believe me then?

And if your beauty was gone
but my love lingered on
would you believe me then?

Could you see it like me
and believe what I see
could you listen and remember that I love you
Only,
because I told you, because I told you so.

You take the wheel for now
I'm too tired to drive this one home anyhow,
for now

And when you mention my name
let this one thing remain,
my love, believe me now.

Saturday September 27

SBBS CDs are finally in.  Sent a mail today suggesting plan for sharing comp copies with those who contributed.  Waiting game is over. Now it's a mailing game.  Much to do.

* * *

Scott Adams CD release party at Mr. Spots.  Fun songs, good live arrangements.  Nice to see again Amy Denio too.  Scott has come a long way in the 9+ years I have known him.   Love his new CD.

Sunday September 28

Reconnection with TravisH today, gave him some Box Sets.  Great to catch up.

Dangerous controversial thought, perhaps better to leave untyped.  But what the hell.  Living dangerously..   I'm feeling sorry that something in Seattle Circle and Guitar Craft operational chemistry has driven TravisH away from active participation in local activities.   But there is also a large, resonant part of me that empathizes with him in this regard.

Involvement in Seattle Circle / Guitar Craft / SBRS / LCG Band x is never an easy way.  Aspirations and egos, perceptions and assumptions, missions and music dance and sometimes prance around and on top of each other.    One requirement for ongoing involvement: thick skin.
