Sunday June 18

A long week sans diary writing.  It is not that there was not an avalanche of interesting events worth documenting.  It is simply that my days and nights have been jam-packed with higher priorities.  Staying awake or conjuring up the energy to be alert, objective, or even able to physically write with any coherence for the extra 10-40 minutes at 1 or 2am was simply not possible while maintaining my other commitments.

Even now, at 11:48pm, the effort to pour these thoughts into this box feels just past the edge of possible.  However, here I am again -- facing an a seemingly impossible task.  Why sacrifice the sleep I so badly desire for this painful task?

If I cannot bring myself to take on the simple impossible tasks, how will I ever complete the complicated impossible tasks which I also face in my day to day?

I answered a pile of emails today before deleting about 2000 unread mails.   This purging feels really great.  Buh-bye to the unnecessary backlog which had been piling up.   For those of you in the deleted bin, if it was really important, and i did not respond, please email me again.

Sent and received a response from PabloM who kindly translated an email I received from someone in Buenos Aires.  Wish I was there.   Sounds like Ferny, Guille, and Marty are having some fun.  There was even a rumor about a drummer...

Fortunately, I'm currently already playing with my favorite pop drummer on the planet.  In fact, I had a great time this evening playing with him and his band this evening as we prepare for Sit-n-Spin in early July.  A high point of my day -- working out the details of 'numbered days' toward the end of the rehearsal: I looked up and realized that I am in the right place at the right time with the right people.

Called my dad - left him a HFD message on his machine.

Great food, fun, and company at Ingrid's birthday party this afternoon.  Bill, Donna, Kate, Frank, Ingrid, Bill, Frankie, Tobin, Curt, Bob, Jax, Isabel, Patty, Dean, Louis, William, Karen, Debra, Ezra.    Brock, Heather and Clement could not make it today.

What a blessing to have these friends here in Seattle.

CEO job description:

2) remove obstacles (real and imagined)
3) translate vision into action
4) mediate between people in extreme polarity
5) be a broken record about the vision
6) see and act on what is real
7) see and move toward what is possible
8) carefully guard the door

I have a difficult job.  Not tooting any horns here.  Simply recognizing the vastness of the task in front of me.

Feeling small and humble this evening.  A quiet prayer for help.
